It is odd that THIS is what does it

We had 24 school children killed in Uvalde, 17 killed at Parkland, and 28 killed at Sandy Hook, just to name a tiny percentage of them. All of these were met with "thoughts and prayers" and calls that is was "too early to discuss changes".

But 1 CEO has been killed, and apparently, businessmen have decided the country has gone crazy. Because these guys have money - thoughts and prayers are not worth the paper they are printed on, so they have solutions. Add a LOT more security to their Operating Officers, take their names off the websites, and hide from any reaction to their approving the death of thousands.

Equal treatment under the law.

As for looking for other reasons, I say, "Ha." We live in a country that has massive free access to guns, no free access to medical care, and a culture that idolizes the lone wolf vigilante heroes (Rambo, John Wick, Robin Hood, Kyle Rittenhouse, and more). If you put 1 and 2 together, you will invariably get 3.

Politicians have just exacerbated the trend but naming various people as "enemies of the people" and "vermin." I am NOT saying that this is the fault of either party. I am saying that the rise in rhetoric allows people to justify their actions to themselves.

What is the point of this post?

Ignore the entire rigamarole. Once the outrage abates and our culture has satiated itself on the hotness of Luigi Magione,  life will go back to normal and we will forget all about this.

  1. Normalizing wrong doing. Therein lies the problem.

    1. I really want to agree with you here! We have normalized violence. To the point where I actually have fallen into it. Thank you for this!
