Sometimes I need to remember these meditations were written in ancient Greece. More than a few of these don't seem to be directly correlated to today's problems. Remember that the scope of a single person's ability to change in ancient Greece was pretty damn limited by space, time and the Gods.
Today, I tend to think of past politics as something that has happened. And future politics as something we might be able to affect.
Keep this thought as the ready at daybreak, and through the day and night - there is only one path to happiness, and that is in giving up all outside your sphere of choice, regarding nothing else as your possession, surrendering all else to Gods and Fortune.

But in general this helps me. Sometimes others actions are infuriating or hilarious, depending on our viewpoint. But all of the actions that are outside my control, I try to accept.
