President Biden gave an address on gun violence, only his second address of his presidency. And the Press immediately reported on it. Well, not the idea so much, more reporting on: How Biden looked and sounded... What the Republicans thought... Will this help or hurt the mid-term chances of Democrats...
Nothing about the actuality of gun control because it won't go anywhere. But if you want to know what true helplessness in America feels like, read this from the Huffington Post Daily Roundup of News this Morning:
BIDEN: 'WE CAN’T FAIL THE AMERICAN PEOPLE AGAIN' President Joe Biden gave his second evening address of his presidency, exhorting Congress to pass gun control legislation after a wave of mass shootings stretching from Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Buffalo, New York. The president called on lawmakers to pass a suite of measures, including universal background check legislation, a ban on assault weapons, a national “red flag” law and an increase on the age requirement to buy a gun. [HuffPost] MINUTES AFTER PRESIDENT’S SPEECH: ANOTHER SHOOTING The president finished his speech at 7:48 p.m., closing with pleas asking lawmakers “how much more carnage are we willing to accept.” Three minutes later, 911 calls started coming in in Ames, Iowa, about another shooting. Authorities said three people were killed in a parking lot outside a church, including one person believed to be the shooter. [HuffPost] |
