There is always a new record (or two or three) to break with Climate Change.
Let's start in California.
Never in history has a fire in California jumped the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Ever. In History! Until (you guessed it) this year.
Here is a map that shows the Sierra Nevada Range along the eastern part of the state. You can see how tall the Sierra Nevadas are, with peaks that are all almost 2,500 Meters / 8,000 Feet. Normally these peaks are covered in snow or melt, they have always before stopped a fire. If a 10,000 mountains can't stop a fire, imagine the uselessness of a road width firebreak!
Now in New York...
Two weeks ago, as Hurricane Henri blew through, we set a record for the most rainfall in a hour in history! A major record. People were freaked about it. Until two days ago...
Two days ago the remains of Hurricane Ida blew through and that 300 year old record was broken again. AS was that brand new, 2 week old record. Yes that NEW record rainfall number was beaten by the new(er) rainfall total. So in records going back over 300 years, the 2 rainiest hours in history occurred within 2 weeks of each other!
Of course, by themselves neither of these are devastating for most people. But it portends even worse for the future.
I of course will not even go into the crap Fox folks say about this.
