Back to Iceland: Myvatn Nature Baths

Near the center of Northern Iceland is Lake Myvatn (which means, we found out later, Fly Lake - as in little bitting black mf'ers - which I am still scratching from!). It is a lake that doesn't freeze because it is feed by very hot water. So hot in fact, there is a massive Geothermal plant in the hills just past Myvatn.

But all that is forgotten when you pass round a hill to the Myvatn Nature Baths.

They combine the color and silkiness of the Blue Lagoon, but mainly from natural sources (much of the Blue Lagoon is hot water runoff from a geothermal plant).

Having some cold, crystal clear water from Icelandic Glaciers when we were done.

You can sit in the water (or have a beer from the water bar) and watch the day over Lake Myvatn, far enough that the flies don't bother you. It is much cheaper than the Blue Lagoon - given its distance from the main tourist spot. And there are many more locals here.

All the pictures but the top one are from Ed or I.
