And finally (ish), we come to the greatest waterfall in Europe

In terms of shear amount of water at once * height, Dettifoss is the biggest waterfall in Europe. Although, counting Iceland as part of Europe may be pushing it.

Now I have wanted to see Dettifoss, since glimpsing it in the movie Prometheus (that Alien prequel that didn't have any aliens).

Two things, it is super ass impressive AND it isn't even the prettiest waterfall on the hike (of 3 amazing waterfalls).

First Dettifoss

Yes, those things on the ledge on the left are people.

Ed and I are now among those tiny people. There are other people up on the right.

The movie ends with a rainbow.

Then, even prettier, if not more powerful Snelfoss.

A little over a half mile hike from Dettifoss (starting with a little boulder hopping) is Snelfoss. Although not nearly as powerful, the length is greater and it is so very gorgeous.

Panorama picture of the extensive falls. The run laterally along the river.

My husband and honey

It is very hard to get the scale here, but they are about 30 feet tall. And the view from the west (we are on the eastern side) is not very great for Snelfoss.

And, it meet my expectations.
