Yesterday I posted about an article that spoke of the 11 rides that were ready opening day and are still there (LINK) Here are 2 more.
JUNGLE CRUISE
Sixty-six years after the ride opened, guests can still ride the Jungle Cruise riverboats at Disneyland. The attraction is famous for its animatronic animals, immersive tropical environment, and live host. A movie based on the ride hits theaters on July 30, 2021. (my note: A movie! It looks like the "African Queen" crossed with "Rambo")

The Jungle Cruise hasn't changed MUCH since opening. There was a big redo in the 1990s |
|
I blieve this was one change, they tried to make it less racist. |

The new ride Again, few changes visible (except the new canopies. The big change was better animals and new lame jokes |
CANAL BOATS OF THE WORLD
Canal Boats of the World was originally envisioned as a canal boat ride featuring miniature models of international landmarks. Due to budget limitations, the miniatures were nixed, and riders were instead taken around a swampy, poorly landscaped bank with nothing to look at. Mechanical malfunctions exacerbated the ride’s troubles, and it shut down just a couple of months after Disney opened. Not long after that, it was reimagined as Storybook Land Canal Boats, and today the ride features miniature scenes from classic Disney movies.me
The Canal Boats of the World was so bad, a major overhaul (to feature Disney movie locations in minature) was created. There are stories of the original boats overheating. It was to be based on landmarks from around the world, but that didn't seem to pan out.
It is usually not a favorite of older (6 years and over) kids, but adults like the quiet, slow, relaxing ride, particularly after a full day of children screaming. Note, this used to be the worst D ticket ride ever. Later it was dropped to a B-ticket.

Not impressive and the original outboard motors overheated. |

The newly updated canal boats were changed to feature newer movies - but you still enter through Pinocchio's Whale's gapping mouth. |
And another of my favorites out in Frontierland. The Tiki Tiki Tiki Room. (Technically The Enchanted Tiki Room). It was the first air-conditioned ride and where the birdies sing (tweet, tweet-tweet, tweet-tweet). Okay, just me then huh?. I have taken a lot of people on the (to the?) Tiki Room. I liked it best when the birds were fun in their own right. They changed the Room to include Disney movie birds - Iago from Aladdin, Zazu from the Lion King, etc.). But it still a great place to sit and be super-entertained. Although that might just be me, since I love Tiki Bars and old Tiki Apartments.

Originally the four bird MCs where fro 4 different countries and each had features that matched the flags of the country. You can see green and red "Jose" from Mexico in this picture. |
|
Zazu and Iago - but the birds still sing and the waters dance to a Polynesian Beat |
