Today England votes on the future of the country. For the 3rd time in 5 years.
And they get to vote in the rain, cold and dark of December.
Between two men they don't like, leading two parties that are pushing what many of their voters don't want.
And, in this groundhog-day system, they are hoping for a clarity which wasn't there the first 3 times they voted and isn't there now.
Fun. It is like Democracy Designed by Marquis de Sade.
(However, it could always be worse. Israel just called elections for the 3rd time in a single year!)
(From On Tyranny) 2. Defend institutions. It is institutions that help us to preserve decency. They need our help as well. Do not speak of "our institutions" unless you make them yours by acting on their behalf. Institutions do not protect themselves. They fall one after the other unless each is defended from the beginning. So choose an institution you care about -- a court, a newspaper, a law, a labor union -- and take its side.
