When I was young and stupid, I used to drive through Griffith Park to feel better. Yes, it was far from Cerritos and Garden Grove (where I lived at the time), but it was a blast.
I have told Ed about the back road for years. It was closed less than 2 years after I could drive. Proposition 13 cut a lot of funds for the city, and this was an easy road to close.
I had seen it in La La Land. And Ed and I walked a bit of it once - until it got too steep to walk up. But I just saw an image of it, granted as a path. This was the road.

I loved that place. No one was ever on it. Now, with Waze, it would be crowded, but when I was young, it was an escape from people less than 2 miles from Downtown LA.
