An Eric. Owen Moss building in Culver City. |
I first heard of Eric Owen Moss in the early 80's when Greg (if you haven't heard of my and Greg's relationship - consider yourself luck, I tend to go off). Anyway, he went to Architecture School at Sci-Arc. The Southern California Institute of Architecture.

Sci-Arc at the time was the bastion of post-modernism architecture. Frank Geary, Owen Moss, Michael Rontondi were the stars, but they were all based on the work of earlier LA architects like John Lautner, Ray Kappe, Richard Neutra and others.
Moss was a teacher and supporter of Sci-Arc*
He has done a recent building on Culver City / LA border which has gotten great reviews from architects and some people (like me). And horrible reviews from more traditional reviewers. To which I must say, what the hell did you expect from him!
For those of you who know, the Baldwin Hills are in the background. The Blue Line from downtown LA to downtown Santa Monica in the foreground. For my mom, just down from the old FedCo on La Cienega. |

I like it. |
Anyway, I thought I would share.
*Eric Owen Moss ran his own architecture company - which Greg got a job with after graduation from Sci-Arc. He quit on day 1 to try and become a motion picture Art Director after I helped put him through school. I was not happy.
It's a bit busy for my taste, but I do like the cars on the road, as Jane would say, for scale.
