Daily Stoic: February

 The general topic of the meditations in February are around Passions and Emotions. Given what Stoics strive to overcome - this can't be good  :-) 

Also remember, "man" here stands for men and women today. Back in Greece, women were not thought of as Stoics, they were too busy being wives.

Keep this thought handy when you feel a fit of rage coming on - it isn't manly to be enraged. Rather , gentleness and civility are more human, therefore manlier. A real man doesn't give way to anger and discontent, and such a person has strength, courage, and endurance - unlike the angry and complaining. The nearer a man some to a calm mind, the closer he is to strength.

Without berating this topic, the response of anger and rage does not mean you care more than someone who responds analytically. It doesn't mean anger and rage are not valid emotions. But the Stoic meditations asks us to not react emotionally in the moment.

Sometimes nearly impossible for me.

Like this dumb-assery story below: One of more school districts in Florida now require EVERY BOOK in EVERY CLASS be covered and not used until approved by the district or a new (and unfilled) position called called "certified media specialists" approve it. Although who "certifies" this role is unclear, as it is not an actual "certified" document.
