Consider Facebook, Instagram and TickToc, designed to keep you stuck to our devices and serves ads design for you specifically.
Consider the media which manufactures stories to provoke outrage and anger.
What Marcus Aurelius is saying is that your mind can be stronger that these pulls.
And, by the by, it has been over a week since I had a Diet Coke! Good for me.
