Daily Stoic: Keeping the Course

Peace is in Staying the Course

"Tranquility can't be grasped except by those who have reached an unwavering and firm power of judgement - the rest constantly fall and rise in the their decisions, wavering  in a state of alternately rejecting and accepting things. What is the cause of this back and forth? It's because nothing is clear and they rely on the most uncertain guide - common opinion.

Seneca

This meditation is all about stying clear in our focus on the end state. What we want to accomplish. And that "what" may easily be hijacked by fads that fall in and out of fashion.

Right now, in New York, yoga has fallen out of fashion. It is not that it is rejected, but it isn't seen as "cool" anymore. But, if one was pursuing yoga to build your body and settle your mind. And it was working, one should stay the course.

To give up Yoga for the next fad (it was soul cycle - now it is pilates) IF yoga was working for you - is a choice to value opinion of others other the opinion of yourself.

Remember hearing about this fad from the 1930s?

Yes kids, he is swallowing a goldfish whole - fad

Doesn't he look silly now.

Sometimes I despair at age. But this gives me hope.

I mean, I don't want a child, but I think she is older than Tony Randel. Unlike Tony, she pushed this out!
