As We Say in the Biz: We're going way back....

About 40 years ago (okay, exactly 40 years ago) I was working at the Revolver. For those of you that don't know, the Revolver was a gay bar. And 40 years ago it was one of the few gay bars that were co-ed. That is gays in the front bar and lesbians in the back bar. And yes, as a doorman for a while, it is much scarer to break up a a lesbian bar and throw them out that to break up a gay fight in the front and throw the boys out.

Because women aren't kidding. There aren't the big breaks for dramatic inhales with women. With gay fights, they learned to fight from Dynasty. Big slaps, big gestures, big gasps and plenty of pauses for you to jump in.

With women, it starts in a blaze and ends with someone in a headlock.

Anywho, I was thinking about Sandra Bernhard last night and remembering when she used to come in. She used to sit in the back bar and was kind of ignored. Once she made it, she was fairly unkind to those that had been unkind to her - the difference was that she enjoyed it.

Anyway, this was the bit shown on the monitors that made her a star....
