Well, this was completely unexpected! The lead negotiator for the Senate Republicans that would accept gun safety laws has left in a huff. Shock!
He is - publicly at least - upset that loophole that allows abusive boyfriends who have assaulted their girlfriends and been arrested who be barred from owning a gun. I don't know if that is because he wants to smack his wife or he wants everyone to be married.
OR could it be that other Republican Senators are balking at passing anything at all and this is just a moment of theater to pretend they want to do something, but that Democrats are too stiff and want to take guns away from abusive partners.
