Birds Aren't Real : Join the Movement

I find deep joy in a fully nincompooperist conspiracy theory (one that is created on purpose - not the crazy type).  And my favorite at this time is "Birds Aren't Real" (website).

The general idea, okay the only idea, is that from the 1950s through the 1990s (sometimes the 1970s) the US government exterminated all the birds in North America. They then replaced those extinct birds with surveillance drones made to look like birds.

Now you and I know this is an asinine theory. And it is so, but on purpose.

A few years ago, in order to parody Qanon and other stupid right wing conspiracy theories like: Trump won, children are being sold out of a pizza parlor in DC by Hillary Clinton, "Elites" are killing children for "adenochrome" (this one from the very drug infused book "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas"), horse dewormer kills Covid, Mexico is going to pay for the wall, Mexican immigrants can vote- you know the whole shebang.

To show how stupid it was, a young movement started to bring a totally faux conspiracy to light.

Here is their manifesto:

Is it silly? Totally. Is it funny? Depends on you - I find it hilarious.

  1. Damn, I've got at least a dozen drones living in my yard right now.

  2. I know. At first I didn't believe this, but then I figured out the bird shit is really just tiny microphones and cameras.
