Wildlife Photography of the Year

Below are the 5 finalist, including the winner, of the Wildlife Photographer of the Year People's Choice Award 2021.

I had to quote the name of the competition directly, becauswe my first thought about the winning picture is "there are no animals in that!". I had to read carefully, despite all the headlines, that this was the Wildlife PHOTOGRAPHER or the year, not the Wildlife Photograph of the year.

Anyway, these are gorgeous. But, yes, the winner has no animals in his picture. All of the images and captions are from NY Times article.

Cristiano Vendramin's enchanting image of a frozen lake in northern Italy has won the People's Choice Award for Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2021.

Runners Up

Two male lions share a tender moment as they take shelter from the rain in the Maasai Mara, Kenya, in this shot by photographer Ashleigh McCord.

A juvenile bald eagle and a black bear cub make for an unlikely pair in this photo taken by Jeroen Hoekendijk in Alaska, US.

An eastern gray kangaroo and her joey in the midst of a burned eucalyptus plantation near Mallacoota, southern Australia, in this striking image by Jo-Anne McArthur.

Two male golden pheasants appear to dance together in this photo by Chinese photographer Qiang Guo, taken in Shanxi Province, China

I think my favorite is the lowest, the Golden Pheasants. but I do love the imagery and color of birds.
