That "Viking" Look

Iceland, remember a tiny island nation with a population 1/3 of Austin Texas, or about 1/2 that of the state of Wyoming, has produced some great futbol (soccer) players. Lately around Europe they have popularized the "Viking" Look. Healthy, ruddy skin and long blond hair.


Funny aside, this is NOT what most Icelandic men look like - there are many more "Old School Trollish" men (bearded and frazzled, they look like they should be living under bridges in a Tolkien novel) or Hobbits (young and unbearded, they haven't grown into full size trolls yet).

Anywho, the forerunner of this look is one handsome man named Helgi Kolviðsson. Here is him (and a follower of the look, Birkir Bjarnason.
