I Like a Good Laugh at His Expense

So, President Trump's lawyers shot themselves in the foot, and I couldn't be happier.

President Trump was required by the Supreme Court to follow the District Court's ruling and turn over President Trump's taxes. Although they did not specifically rule out further challenges, none were expected. But D.J. Trump is slippery. Rather than follow the court's instructions they appealed on a NEW basis. This time, his lawyers said, the subpoena was too broad.

In their telling, the New York Court was asking for too many records for its review about illegal hush money payments during the election. Mistake.

See, the Grand Juries don't have to say what they are investigating. Trump's team knew it included the Hush Money payments, because Trump Lawyer Cohen admitted to that. But by arguing that the entire release was too broad, it allowed the NY District Attorney to actual say what was actually being investigated.

I'm going to pull in the NY Times here, because it is pretty complete.

But in a court filing this week, prosecutors with the district attorney’s office cited “public reports of possibly extensive and protracted criminal conduct at the Trump Organization” and suggested that they were also investigating possible crimes involving bank and insurance fraud.

Yeah, so a lot of things. And Trump's lawyers were caught flat footed, AND Deutsche Bank complied.

Karma, baby.

Capybaras and the revenge of the rodents

The title of my post (above) is a joke. It may not be funny, but it is a joke nonetheless. I don't know if you all remember during COVI...
