Just in case you missed it, the country is acting like a third Rate Banana Republic now (the bad government kind, not the casual Friday's clothes kind).
One of our diplomat's wives was driving, not doubt impaired, in England to a US base. We don't know why, but I assume she was slightly or majorly buzzed, since she was driving on the wrong side of a country road. That is a very common feature of drunks driving to drive "very carefully" when they are int he wrong country (Americans in England, Aussies in California, etc.)
Well she hit a motorcyclist and killed him. That isn't really in question. You see she pretended to cooperate with the police. Then she fled the country claiming diplomatic immunity.
Because our diplomatic immunity now extends to manslaughter, apparently.
(From On Tyranny) 2. Defend institutions. It is institutions that help us to preserve decency. They need our help as well. Do not speak of "our institutions" unless you make them yours by acting on their behalf. Institutions do not protect themselves. They fall one after the other unless each is defended from the beginning. So choose an institution you care about -- a court, a newspaper, a law, a labor union -- and take its side.
